No kids in the complex. And it's not in the lease when signed.

I regoogled and did find Westgate Apartments in Pine Hills, not the safest area of Orlando. Maybe they are trying to curtail crime in the area?

Yea, that's why I thought he meant the resort. Maybe OP will be back to explain more.

There's also Westgate Community, which is an apartment complex in Tallahassee. And Westgate Apartments in Jacksonville. The OP is asking a pretty specific question, but not providing specifics so that people can help him find any answers.

I mean at the bare minimum - he'd probably want to narrow this down to a county, if not an actual town/municipality. Or finish the official name. Westgate WHAT? Westgate Apartments? Or is it West Gate (two words)? Is it even in Florida? What KIND of community is it? Again - if it's some kind of rehab facility then absolutely a curfew would be appropriate.

What would the property manager do if the tenants refused to be 'locked in' every night? Call the police? That would be hilarious to watch the property manager try to explain his or her way out that one. Someone would be hauled downtown, for sure.

Westgate community, called affordable housing, in Tallahassee has:

"Welcome to Westgate Community, a residential community featuring bunk-style housing, single or double residential occupancy, and efficiency apartments in Tallahassee, Florida. Fully-furnished floorplans and cost-saving amenities welcome you home, along with exceptional service and an ideal location within close proximity to transportation and community services."

https://www.royalamerican.com/proper...gate-community
https://westgatetlh.org/

Some of the units have shared common spaces so that people are renting a room.

"At Westgate, you’ll experience quality affordable living. Many of the apartments feature shared common spaces. Apartment rent includes wifi, utlitities, furniture and more!"

In this unusual living situation, management may indeed control all common areas and require a curfew. The lease would provide all the relevant details.

If the complex is curtailing, smoking on the grounds, parking, trespassing or loitering of course they can or attempt to control/influence your "activity" on THEIR grounds......your comings and goings? no. Your noise, disruptive behavior? yes, absolutely.

Also, if it's a HUD supported property - there can be a ton of regs that you must comply with.

Keep in mind as well, IF the property has been designated by the Sheriff or other law enforcement as a "nuisance property", then all bets could be OFF.

Clearly, they can't "Confine" you to your apartment, that would constitute unlawful imprisonment.

Can they attempt to influence your behavior? well yes - it's their property.

A absolute "curfew" ? well no, but the County possible could or the city, but that requires a big probable cause. Curfews are declared all the time by governments.

Yeah that is basically a welfare property, for disadvantaged people including the homeless. So yes - they'll have very strict rules.
