Florida really starts at Orlando and points south. There’s nothing really about Tallahassee that makes it a Florida city apart from being legally in Florida. It’s cold, has hills, no beach, different culture, not tropical, etc. It has a lot more in common with Macon, GA than it does Miami.

Very interested in the bolded topic ^ but I will make a new thread to discuss it since it's somewhat separate from the subject of this thread. Or maybe it's already been explained in previous threads so I'll do a search.

I'd say you've got it backwards. Florida was around long before South beach and Disney. I-4 protects the REAL Florida from the abomination that exists to the south.

true, but that's not what people are thinking when they think Florida

and it's perception...I grew up in south Miami....that's Florida to me....and anything north of Flagler street is not south Florida
