I know I know but I just checked the IP, not the same user as you think and everyone does have a right to their opinion. If I deleted this one I would have to go back and delete 3/4 of all FL posts.

Brief Description Of The Sunshine State

Nice weather, But full of fools that overpaid for homes on swamps looking for greater fools to sell to. It has been this way for 85 years. After the next big storm it will start over. Check out Florida History 1920s. Ever seen the movie Cocoanuts by the Marx Brothers ? If not google it.

Oh "can I get stucco, boy can you get stuck O!". I am too busy building my new Florida reform website. Not even sure what to call it yet. I am making my last ditch attempt to get like minded people together and if I can't, I want to move somewhere those people exist. It's always a nice place if you can earn at least three times what it costs to live there!

[At the resort hotel, looking at a map.]
Groucho:

Now here is a little peninsula, and here is a viaduct leading over to the mainland.

Chico:

Why a duck?

[more back-and-forth between the two ... ]

All right, why a duck? Why a duck, why-a no chicken?

Groucho:

Well, I don't know why-a no chicken. I'm a stranger here myself. ...

I take it you have seen it.

The Cocoanuts is set in Florida in the 1920s. In the early 1920s, a rush of newcomers and speculators sent land values soaring, creating the Florida Land Boom. But in 1925 the over-inflated Florida land market busted, and as if to finish things off, in September 1926 South Florida was hit by a major hurricane and accompanying tidal wave.

OK, since I don't know a lot about Fla. history, I have a couple of questions.

Were you referring to things that actually happened or are you talking about the Marx movie when you said that people moved in and the market was over-priced and then there was a tidal wave? (Wow, long sentence)
Also, is a tidal wave just a western word for tsunami? Is a tidal wave also caused by an earthquake in the ocean? If it is really history, what areas of Fla. were hit?
