Is there a website or a way to check on a condo to make sure that it is a legit deal before we send in $$$.

I would check to see if it is listed on VRBO. Any owner that is serious about vacation rentals will list there. What condo and how did you find it?

ditto divertodd62. Or use a realtor that can be checked out and liable if there's such a thing. This is a bad climate for long distance money exchanges.

Be very careful, I lost 2400.00 to an unscrupulous duplex owner and I even sent my 28 year old son to approve the place. He still scammed me and I have to go to court but nothing will come of it because he's been in court 140 times and has liens all over the place.

It was craigs list Hollywood Beach Broward County, so you might be luckier up there.

The detective in Hollywood ran his plates, drivers license and sent a photo of the license to my kid to say if it was the guy who he gave the money to, that was very nice of him. He looked up all his properties and confirmed that he was the legal owner. He cautioned me to never go forward if any little instinct says to watch out.

It was the real guy and he was the property owner and did not break a criminal statute only civil. They couldnt' help me criminally.

Maybe you could offer to pay a small amount to a major proven realtor to represent you and go check it out. They have buyer agents in florida why not for one time rentals. But I'm sure there are others if this one sounds fishy.

I will suggest the Navarre Chamber of Commerce, they have a list of registered members: Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (http://www.navarrechamber.com/dir.html - broken link)
