I don't care for politics; and I try to avoid discussions about it where possible. That said, I dislike anyone on either far right or far left, don't care for extremists of any kind. Thankfully where I live I see very little of either and almost everyone I know is tolerant and accepting of others views and beliefs.

I don't like to spend my time arguing, for those of you unhappy here I sincerely hope you can leave soon. In the meantime I am living the good life, happy and grateful for everything I have and blissfully ignoring most of the political bullsh*t.

$450,000 > $2,500

$450,000/5yrs = $90,000/yr

I have not spent $90,000/yr for any of the last 5 years, so Florida is paying me to live in the Free State of Florida.

Not only is my homeowners insurance free, so is EVERYTHING else! I'm making money just living here.

There are no costs to flee from, just profits (on paper based on comps of course).

Am I an anomoly? An outlier?

Only Idaho has seen a greater jump in home value on average in that time frame. There are a handful very close behind Florida, however.

In any case, your perspective is refreshingly optimistic. I doubt many people would look at their increased home assessment as a form of income. Most people will just grumble about their property taxes rising.

If you sold in Florida and bought somewhere in Alaska, well then you'd definitely be ahead! Our state is near the bottom of the list for appreciating valuations.

I'm in a very desireable locale in Florida...SW Florida...Sarasota County. Everyone around here has seen the same appreciation I've seen, but its not statewide.

The costs to live in FLA have risen, but if you are a homeowner, you're appreciation has more than offset those costs. Of course, the media ignores that.

I was in AK last Summer on a cruise. I couldn't tell the local economy was soft. Why not move to FLA? We have fish here too..and tourists...no oil though...phosphate mining yes

My home in Palm Beach County went up 120% in value since 2019, but my insurance and property taxes also more than doubled (in fact, actually tripled). I love living in south Florida, but it’s incredibly expensive.

I spent the past weekend in Miami, all over from Kendall to the airport area (stayed at Element Hotel) to Downtown and to Hialeah. I was SHOCKED to see so many Trump bumper stickers and flags flying around lol...

They are Cuban. It is not a shocker to any Floridian living in Florida for many years.

Equity in your home means nothing unless you sell it. How many people want to sell their $700,000 home in Florida and buy a $300,000 one in Alaska?

Right. The fact that has to be explained is baffling to me.
