I'll be retiring in a cople of years & my wife & I decided we will be heading south. We live in No VA currently. We visited FL the last couple of years and like the Palm Coast area. One year we were in the area and saw the shuttle launch from one of the small towns directly across from the launch site.My question is -what is a comfortable annual income range for the area? I'm depending on the sale of my home to pay for a home after I retire so a mortgage would be non-existent or a very minimum expense.

Hope you like new Yorkers. That's about all you'll meet there.

Oh please FW...while there are many NY'ers here thanks to ITT heavily advertising in the NE. There are now plenty of people from everywhere living here. Diversity is definitely plentiful in PC.

And so is crime. Be very cautious.

In regard to the traffic, congestion and so forth. Palm Coast was planned, from its conception, to have far more homes and development than it currently has. When (I know it looks like an if at this point) the Town Center on Rte 100 takes off, much of the congestion will be relieved. So no, it isn't like it was in the early days, and I cannot believe that anyone would be naive enough to think that it wouldn't change.

Been thinking about buying a condo & staying in FL during the winter months and then mooching (LOL) off my 3 daughters during the summer months up North and in the mid-West. What's the condo prices like?

As for New Yorkers, many of my family members lived and still live in NY - Flushing, Long Island and a few are in NJ - Passiac, so I'm very familiar with those great people. Spent many summers in NY.

As for too many New Yorkers and crime in Palm Coast...I guess I need to jump in here on that one.
we have been living here in PC for over 2 years and LOVE it. We moved here from the Midwest!
Yes, there are many many people here from the Northeast, but I actually like them. I have met some of the nicest people living here who are all from the North east.
Plus, there are people living here from ALL OVER the U.S......

As for crime, why does everyone come here and say how crime filled PC is? I don't get it or maybe I just haven't seen it. I know crime must happen of course, but it happens everywhere you live, and as for PC, I never hear of anything happening around here.
By the way, I am a mother of three who does get out and about and I still never see what so many others say is going on.

Anyway...just my 2 cents.. PC is a very nice city to move to.

Seems like PC (and lets face it, Florida) is definitely a dumping grounds for ex-cons. Local ex-mobster from Brookyln NY (naturally, and why does FL seem to attract these creeps?) arrested at pizza shop for assaulting customers.

Seems like several times I've seen some crazy or some sort of whacko story out of Palm Coast - it's always folks from NY or NJ, with some name I cant pronounce (although this one was easy to say).

That's because you keep on reading the same stories several times...

No, I can pull up several. The one where the couple was having sex with animals or something. I'm sure I could dig that one up but it's disgusting.
