NJ is NJ & FL is FL. NJ beats FL in some things & FL beats NJ in some things. They are 2 entirely different places. But here's my opinion. If you are concerned about kids & employment then maybe PC isn't for you. However, if all your debts are paid, perferrably you're retired & have no kids, then I would say PC would be much more suitable for you. But I sure wish I was living there as I'm sick & tired of steel gray skies, being depressed, being stuck home, dealing with sleet, snow, ice, single digit nights, blustery winds, high electric & heating bills, corrosive road salt on my car, not being able to enjoy the great outdoors, see no flowers, seeing no green leaves, hearing no song birds, etc. Yes, I would rather much be living in lovely warm PC. I'm heading down there the 6th of next month for a 10 day vacation & I can't wait. The north & NJ sucks & its getting worse. NJ is a police state & you need a permit to fart here. And its full of rude, obnoxious people & bad drivers. And ts getting more polluted everyday & has the highest cancer rate in the nation. So verily I say unto you, phooey to stupid NJ & the Great NE. This here lifelong Piney resident of NJ wants out. I could be living in a home 3 tmes the size with so much more than what I have now for the same or even less. I'll drastically improve the quality of my life in PC. Nuff said.

Offcourse you would have a bigger house, you made all your money on NJ wages, not Florida wages. Its fun to sell your expensive house and bring your fat bank accounts to Florida and then bad mouth NJ.

Nope, you're wrong. I am not rich & I'm as poor as a church mouse. I am not a homeowner. I should have stressed the fact that I am a renter. If I was rich would I be renting? So as far as renting is concerned FL has better homes at less costlier prices & offer so much more. That was my point I meant to make. I'm a lifelong resident of NJ & I love my state & can highly praise the hell out of it if I want. But when you're fed up & disgusted its a place that is easy to knock. But 1 thing about NJ is it has lots of boardwalks along its seashores with amusements, rides, arcades, terrific food at restaurants & more. Sorry you Floridians but you don't have that & in comparison your beaches suck & ours are better. And we don't have murderers running around killing people chopping their heads off like they do along the beaches in FL. FL is a dangerous place in many ways- alligators, bugs, poisonous snakes, tornados, hurricanes, etc. NJ is still one of the safest places to live. And NJ dates back to the 1600's & is super rich in history. Heck, maybe I won't move to FL as NJ has a lot more to offer in mamny ways than FL. But like I said, it all depends on ones way of thinking. You always have to weigh the pros with the cons. BTW, one of the things I hate about NJ is all the stuckup rich snobs who do live in mansions & who drive fancy cars. They are fake plastic people with no personalities IMHO. And they are driving us poorer folks out of NJ so what better place to live & rent than the nice sunshine state of FL. AS Nixon often said..."We either have to learn to live together...or we're all going to die together." Lets all get along shall we? Peace & Cheers & God bless your poor souls. Repent as the end is near...Dec 21, 2012. So why die in NJ when I could be living a better lifestyle in FL? Al I'm trying to do is live improve the quality of my life. Read my pros & cons list on this & other forums. It'll be the best pros & cons list you'll ever see about NJ vs moving to FL. Yes, I did my research & homework & know more about PC than a lot of the Realtors down there. Nuff said...for now.

MORE ABOUT PC!
Having spent a lot of time in the Palm Coast area, I can honestly say that all the different areas have a lot to offer - both good & bad. Everything has their pros & cons. All I can say is ride around each section & spend some time there to get a feel for what it has to offer. PC has a little bit of everything & offers a heluva lot. You just need to better acquiant yourself, see & feel how you'll fit in, what your comfort zone it like, how much privacy you're looking for, whether if there are mostly young or old there, how many children are in the area, what the road conditions are like, if the neighbors are friendly, if there is good up keep of the yards & so on & so forth. Usually the better kept the yards are & good upkeeping of the homes is a sure sign & clear indication that the area has more class, is richer, is safer, is a better place to live & more.

I've seen all kinds of people there of all ages & all levels, both poor & wealthy, different ethic backgrounds & more. There are both good & very bad drivers there but isn't it that way pretty much everywhere now? The parks are nice & clean in PC & surrounding areas, the beaches could be better as I'm used to nice soft white suger sand beaches of NJ & there are no oceanside boardwalks in FL like there are in NJ. But if I were to say what are my reasons for wanting to live there the chief #1 reason would be to live in one of those beautiful, modern, open spacious split floor plan, bright & airy homes that are much more suitable to my lifestyle. The 2nd top reason would be to be in a better climate with no more snow, road salt & ice or at least not as much of it as in the NE. All that sunshine will give me a more positive outlook & will chase away the blues & any depression. And my 3rd reason would be to live where the atmosphere is slower paced & more laid back & where for the most part, the folks are a lot nicer & friendlier.

These are just some of my thoughts based on my experiences in PC.

Rebel, you hit the nail on the head as to why so many like Palm Coast. There are many positives to PC depending on your wants and needs, like anywhere.

No snow but definitely had ice on the lawns and bushes couple of weeks ago. No fear of ice on the roads either! Fireplace in the home is a definite plus, maybe not so much for the heat but the ambiance is wonderful. Love it!

What are people spending on average for utilities in the Palm Coast area. How much does it generally cost to AC your home? Do you pay sepaparate for water, sewer, garbage removal? Any other hidden monthly costs. Thanks!

Utility bill includes garbage, water, sewer and runs about $85 if you use water to irrigate. Average electric bill is also about $85 annualized.

There are "property managers" through real estate companies that handle rentals - that's safe, right? We lived in Virginia Beach for a year and our house was set up that way.
