You could find and post 1,500 such articles and it would still represent only 1/100th of 1% (.01%) of the population. Such things happen everywhere, not just Florida. They happen more often in bigger cities and less often in rural areas, and usually happen at a greater frequency in cities outside Florida. They happen most often to people who are involved with drugs or alcohol, people who are generally "asking" for it. If you remove all of the gang, drugs and alcohol related violent crimes, the frequency drops so low it's almost impossible to detect.

I have to agree with pslOldTimer. Yes, the rise in crime in FL concerns me and I hope our new governor addresses the issue very soon, but what really upsets me is the rise in violent crime in America. The first rise in over 10 years, if I remember correctly. I come from small town Ohio. Most people on this forum would consider my old area very quiet. They've already had a drive by shooting. We need to get control of crime all over the US.
