im getting so discouraged. i finally made the decision to move to florida and i guess i just thought that it would just happen once i made the decision...
its not that easy i guess..
anyone else stuck with a home in another state, wanting to move so bad it hurts?
i know things are tough all over, im sure florida will have issues too but i want to be there so bad.
i look at homes online, i see so many i love and want to talk to the owners so bad, lol. just wish they would take a contingent offer.
i have done everything i needed to do to get over the hump of the decision, i even got a job lined up, so now what?
seems houses are selling quick in the area im looking. they keep vanishing from my saved houses.
i put my home on market april 1st, and i know it hasnt been very long but ive only had 1 showing. we had an open house, 4 showed. 1 interested but selling too.
im planning another open house at the end of month so lets hope something happens.
i want to have my 6 yr old start her new school in aug/sept.
she said mommy, i already said goodbye to all my friends and told them im starting 1st in florida, i dont want to go back and have to say goodbye again.
breaks my heart that i cant make it happen for her..
anyway, just needed to vent and mabey find some kind words here.

If you were moving to the panhandle, we were hoping we could help you out. Although one of us 2bohemians used to live in Bradenton, it's been many years ... so we don't really know how things are there these days ... if for some reason, you end up looking up in our area, we are here for you ... we've got lots of motivated sellers who are willing to entertain all kinds of offers these days ....

Is your home priced well? Bear in mind you will get more home for the money than in CT. (In most places anyway).... so you'll have to make a decision on how much the move is worth to you in pricing the home to move.

If you are really wanting to move, then your best bet would be to drop the price you are asking for your home significantly. Ultimately if you are chasing the bottom with your price, you are wasting money most likely in interest each month trying to reach that happy medium where your home sells. With declining markets, its worse.

A buddy of mine did this recently with his house. Others in his area were asking about $405 - 415k, his was a comparable to the others, slightly better as it had a few new things on it, but he priced it at $370k, got a lot of offers above this and sold for $400k. Took about 2 weeks on the market.

With the way the market is going right now, I am not so sure I would be looking to jump into another home right away either. You may be better served by renting a place for a year and see how it goes. Gives you a chance too to look for a home down there without feeling rushed.

Make sure your home is "Designed to Sell" like the tv show. The home needs to be staged. All the kids stuff needs to be picked up and in their right place. You may wanted to have an open house every weekend if you haven't done that already. Like others have said, make sure your home is priced to sell if you want to sell fast.

thanx all.... ive done the design to sell thing. i could prob have my own show. lol... but as far as that goes, we are down to the last penny, cant put another into this home... we have dropped our price two times. we are below 300,000. the thing that scares me, is that we have to pay it off when we sell, 195,000. then we need money to move, i figure 7-8000, for gas and move company. then we would like to beable to put 40,000 down to help us out of the stressful life we live. that is if we decide to buy insted of rent first. its a goal that i hope i can stick to but i will eventually drop it again if this price doesnt work.. the homes around me are beautiful and the area is so amazing. we have 2 acres and have all the rooms that sell up to date. new kitchen and master bath, huge addition with all windows and a brand new 20x20 deck.brand new windows throughout. home is defenately worth over 300,000. its so sad... we struggled with this decision for years, now we made the commitment and we cant go..
we just lowered the price a week ago but still i would have expected a call. not even an offer.
just say a little prayer for us. mabey that will help.

Think of it as a benefit, an extra time for yourselves to get everything in order for the move, study the area, prepare for job hunt, etc, etc.
And as far as prices in Sarasota are concerned, it's no like you're gonna miss your train here. Prices are getting lower, so come October you might actually find something that's not yet affrodable right now.
Anyway, just don't apply too much force(such as getting desperate and lowering the price beyond any conceivable reason just to get to Florida) towards changing your fate. If it's meant for you to end up in Florida, the buyer will turn up at your door eventually. And if not, then maybe some years later you'll realize that it was a hidden blessing. Just play the cards that destiny gives you at a particular moment and look for ways to enjoy that card game

I am going through a similar problem but we own a house in Fla. (Brevard County).Trying to sell this house on Long Island, NY. since Sept. 07. Lots of people came to the open houses, but no offers. This house started at $599,000, now asking $499,000. In the meantime I am paying 2 mortgages. Got to get out of here badly before we go broke.
