I don't know why people think Florida is so great. I think its just a big greed filled area. Everyone here just wants to get rich and not be Happy. The term Me Generation must have been started in Florida.

Florida is a pretty greedy state, well where I live in Venice it pretty much is. There is nothing to do here, and the seniors and snowbirds act like they own the place?

I agree. I moved here from Nevada thinking it was going to be paradise. We are moving back home next month. It's very expensive and the wages are just awful! Then you add in the homeowner's insurance rates and the property taxes (with the low wages) and you get a recipe for disaster and poverty!

I think you're pretty much describing the "United States".

Maybe is not all of that, but can be if you plan your relocation. If you move because everyone else is moving to Florida and plan on getting a job after you get to your destination, well is not going to work.

Florida is just like any other state, has good and bad conditions for families. But responsibility has to be placed on the individual not on the state.

- Have a good reason to move, not just because I want to be rich
- Should evaluate the financial position before you move
- evaluate the location, Florida is a big state and a large # of people move to
the same areas such Orlando, Tampa, etc...
--Education for your children
--transportation
--Employment
--compatibility to your needs
- research the housing market, is going to cost you money; insurance,
utilities, services, etc
-Develop a long term plan with action items to reach your goal
-Be capable to regroup if your plan don't materialize

If you plan to move to the state should not be because of the beach, Disney, manatees or for the spring training of your baseball team. Should be because you have a need and you have taken actions to evaluate, research, and decide how to proceed. This should be for the benefits of the family not for someone idea that Florida is the Mecca of the world.

Again don't blame the state; you made the decision, now you must receive the fruit of your planning. If you did it correctly will work, if you didn't plan will be miserable.

My dad and move love the warm/hot weather and say this pretty much all matters to them. They cant afford CA nor are they moving out anytime soon. Maybe they will if a big hurricane demolishes their house.
