I was wondering if anybody could refer any places for pre marriage counseling for my fiance and I. We are not that familiar with the gainesville area and need help finding a reputable place. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks.

Pre-marriage counseling?

You could try the local Catholic Church. They do that sort of thing.

Actually, you could look up any licensed marriage and family counselor or mental health counselor in the Gainesville area.

They are working with couples all the time.

Also, if you've got insurance, they can provide you with a list of names to choose from.

I think you might want to reconsider that engagement, if you already have problems.

I would think you have to be Catholic, or marrying one in the church, to go to the above.

Couple counseling is highly recommended, especially for pre-marriage couples. Professionals and current research say that going once a year can strengthen a relationship and prevent future conflict. Going to your church may be more comfortable (and cheaper) but often your pastor/priest (whomever) may be very busy and may not be able to give you the time and attention that a professional can. I'm in the area and am looking for something similar so let me know what you find. The only trouble is that I've heard most insurance companies don't cover counseling for unmarried couples and I can't afford much of anything being a student. Good luck!

Who recommends pre-marriage counseling, other than counselors? I have never heard of such a thing.

Seriously, if you can't get along, why in the world would a person consider marriage? How can you consider marriage to someone you are not even compatible with when you are dating?

You are really missing the point. You aren't going to it because there are any problems.
