Would you please mind stating where in NY you are moving back to? This will give a good reference point.

As far as my water bill, as a percentage of my utilities it is a LOT less than my electric bill where LIPA was twice the rate I am paying now. My summer electric bill, with 4 ton and 3 ton AC units running costs me less than NY's lower temps and a single AC.

I don't use Shoprite but Trader Joe's seems very comparable as do prices at Costco. Well, except I can get much cheaper wine at both and sales taxes are over 2% lower. Plus the cheapest gas in town at Costco (under $2 a gallon at the moment, good luck with that in NY).

I make more in FL than in NY and also take more home as I don't have to pay state income tax. As you are retired you might not have a good view of employment but high level positions are available anywhere. Not everyone works in a hotel or at Disney.

As I am subject to the AMT I am very limited on write offs so the writing off of municipal taxes isn't something I am familiar with - or even aware it was legal. My HOA actually provides excellent services for a reasonable rate. But I don't have the time for lawn maintenance, etc. The lack of income tax more than offsets it.and my property taxes are lower. And my auto insurance is cheaper, and my kids are even in great schools (Florida shocker I know).

As far as complaining about higher homeowner insurance given hurricanes and proximity to the ocean is ludicrous. I suppose one should moan about earthquakes in California or tornados in Kansas?

With that said, is it 'paradise'? No. But is my COL lower and QOL higher than in NY? A resounding yes.

If you are unhappy in Florida I-75 runs NORTH and south. Have a nice evening.

Shoprite isn't really known to have premium product, you know. Their meat isn't of the greatest quality, and is on par, if not worse, than Wal-Mart...
Anyway:

Hopkins Meat Market: 40lbs box of chicken quarters: $15
Bacon: $2.99/lb

Dynamo/Fab? That's considered some of the cheapest cleaning product around. You can find the equivalent to that here... At the same price, if not cheaper. Why not find out how much Tide costs up there versus down here?

I won't compare prices on the other **** you listed because I don't eat that. Maybe your poor diet is part of the reason why you're so miserable.

Next we should start the rant that to a New Yorker a frozen pizza isn't even true pizza!

Actually it does. Alligator Alley, the portion of I-75 that transverses east and west coasts of Florida, the only section of the road, at least in Florida, that does NOT go north and south.

Give BNBR some slack because he's clearly lacking in competence regarding Florida's most famous highway

I spent 6 months living in Jersey (got out of there as soon as I could) and I had to shop at Pathmark - man WHAT A DUMP!!! Smelled like a toilet, meat looked like it came from a roadkill, so on and so on. Disgusting. Wasn't cheap either. This was in 2005 - maybe they have improved since but if not, Publix is light years ahead....
