I just want to comment that it's weird to have this kind of poll about the entire state of Florida. It's hard to believe that North Florida and South Florida are even in the same country, let alone the same state. So it's really hard to imagine that advice about one area will apply to the other.

Regardless, I joined this thread about 40 pages too late!! But I wanted to say it anyway.

The humidity where I live has hit in late April, early May the past couple of years. Lasts till October.

I would say good place to visit, lousy place for most to build wealth or have a career though.

source: 24 years in florida, coming back for grad school for awhile, but, will leave when I am done.

For me though its mostly about jobs and culture...Florida has car culture and suburbs. I prefer big city urban life with world class stuff, Florida has none. Beaches there can't be beat though.

No. To me, New York City is a great place to visit, but a horrible place to live. But honestly, that's the only place where I've ever gotten that feeling. All of the other places I've visited were ones that I either enjoyed and wouldn't mind living in full-time, or didn't enjoy and probably would not contemplate relocating to. Of course some cities that I loved, particularly in California, are way outside of my budget anyhow, so my desires don't really mean anything :-D

That being said, I am not at all fond of North Florida - I would relocate outside of the state before living there again - and Orlando is a bit "iffy". It's an OK city, good location, but I'm not sure if I could deal with living in a city that is constantly inundated by tourists. It seems like I've been asked for directions nearly every time that I've visited the area!

Sorry...I'm talking Sarasota...the last 16 years I've been here, the humidity really doesn't become "unbearable" until May/June....

Right now in Naples, according to weather.com, it is 81 degrees and feels like 84 degrees. Yes, even today I can feel the humidity. I just put the air on inside the house.

Now, you know....{tapping feet}....this is NOTHING compared to what it feels like in oh, July, August and September as far as this humidity thing goes...to those of us year-rounders, this is just making us feel cold through the bone because it's more like dampness to us.....

Yes, it is horrible July, August and September, but I cannot stand anything over 75 either. But then how many of Florida's transplants would voluntarily decide to vacation up north in January just because they miss the cold?

Just me.
