If you have a 2 or 3 bedroom Mobile Home , could you give me an idea what your typical electric bill is in the summer and in the winter if you have electric heat ? Please tell me the approx. size of your home in sq. ft, number of bedrooms, how old it is, and your typical monthly electric bill . Thanks very much for providing this info as it will help me alot. We have a 2000 MH about 1800 sq. ft., 3 br., but also a large shop and horse barn, and our monthly has never been over $185, with just two living here. When not at home thermostat is up to 81 and the dog is comfortable sleeping. We have 3 fans running in the barn during the hottest part of the year, which is about 4 months. Located in central FL, north of Orlando and west of DeLand. Hope that helps!

Yes that helps. Thanks. Can I assume you leave the a/c on and set at 81 f., 24 hours a day ? If you shut off the a/c during the day (when no one is there)...how hot will it get in the MH when its 90 f outside ? Thanks.

I have a 1300 SQ Foot Mobile Home. Built in 2000. My Electric Bill for the past few months has been around $230 or so. This is leaving the AC set at 78 during the day and 72-75 at night. All our lights are floresent bulbs. We have hot water heater turned down and the washing machine is set to use cold water only. The dish washer is set for NON-HEATED dry. We have all our computers turned off when not in use except one, but it's monitor is set for power save. We have smaller TV's, 20-27 inch TV's which are not used that much. Electric is very very expensive in Florida. My grandparents own a 1200 SQ foot home... they leave their lights off during the day and they DO NOT even have AC. Their light bill was $150.

On a 90 f. day , if the a/c was left off from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. , how hot would it get inside the Mobile Home assuming some shade on the roof ? Are metal roofed Mobile Homes better at keeping the heat down inside ? I really didnt think that summer electric would run $250 per month for 1300 sq. ft of area ; I didnt know Floridas electric was expensive.

We leave the thermostat at 81 during the day when not at home, at night we kick it down to 76 or 77 and have a ceiling fan over the bed. IF we shut it off during the 90 degrees + days I think it could easily reach into the low to mid 90's in the home. In FL the awful part is really the humidity, so with the AC on even in the low 80's it is a big improvement. During the weekends when we are outside horsing around, we leave it at 80 degrees and head in frequently to cool off. Our home faces east and we have a 100 year large oak tree that keeps the morning sun off us and in the back yard 2 oaks that help in the same way. So only during the late AM and early afternoon does the sun beat down on our roof, which are standard shingles.

Yea, but figure in what their heat bill is during the winter and I'll bet you come out much cheaper in the end.
