Oh, what about Greg Alman. He used to lived on Anna Maria when I was a kid. I don't know if he still has a place out there.

Someone told me that Stephen King's place out on Casey Key has a wrought iron fence with bats on the tops top of the fence. Maybe I'll take the kids out there trick-or-treating

I didn know he was from Florida. I have a good friend that is friends with one of the drummers of the Allman Brothers Band, and my daughter and I actually got to stand on stage while they played at Meriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia MD a couple years ago.

I bet Stephen King has something really scarey planned at halloween!
Almost as scarey as a house with a bird that I visited a couple weeks ago.

Stephen King has a huge Halloween thing going on at his house up in Bangor Maine where he lives every year. We were up there one year and it was unreal. He has a haunted house thing, and you know how good he is at what he does, it's amazing. It makes Halloween Horror nights look like a visit with the smurfs...

Dickey Betts from the Allman Bros lives out in Myakka City as well.

BacktoMa--I've heard about the party King gives in MA. Guess that means he won't be down here for trick-or-treating

So that's where Dickey B. lives now? He used to live in my neighborhood (Whitfield) years back.

I have heard Tom Selleck lives in the area - once I heard Casey Key, someone else said Anna Maria?

Also, don't know his name, but lead singer for AC/DC lives on Bird Key (Sarasota)

There's an incredible jazz fusion bassist named Jeff Berlin (he's played with Allan Holdsworth, Bill Bruford (of Yes/King Crimson fame), etc.) who was living somewhere in Tampa (and may still be). When I was working in a hospital business office, I used to talk to his wife in Tampa occasionally, as she worked for an insurance company in Tampa.

. . . and don't forget that jazz fusion bassist extraordinaire, Jaco Pastorius, grew up in Florida and lived there for the rest of his life (well, although he frequented other places, too). . . unfortunately, often living more or less as a homeless person towards the end of his life (he was a bit crazy--literally, I knew him and knew folks who tried to get him Baker Acted). When Jaco was a kid, he grew up in the Fort Lauderdale area. He later lived in Miami, in Liberty City of all places--he even chose to live there when he was famous and had money, and wrote a song named "Liberty City".

Probably hundreds of current and former major league baseball players have houses throughout Florida. Since their vacation time is October through Februrary, they tend to like to spend time someplace that's warmer for the winter . . . plus a lot of teams' Spring Training is in Florida, so that's an extra month you get to be home. A lot of guys who moved here for that purpose when they were playing liked it here and kept a house here.
