Does anyone have any good and/or bad comments, impressions, etc in regard to Certified Building Inspectors, Inc. located in Maitland, FL. They have been recommended by my home builder because they pass my builder's restrictions, but at the same time I want to be cautious about signing up to get a home inspection by someone recommended to me by my own builder. So if you have anything at all on this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I can vouch for CBI. They are very reputable. They have a couple of guys who do new construction only. They have a program where the inspector will inspect prior to pouring the slab; after framing, but before drywall; and a final inspection. They also make provisions for reinspections and additional inspections if necessary. If you are building a custom home, make sure that you coordinate this between CBI and your builder, and make sure that CBI has a copy of your construction level plans.

There are a couple of other inspectors around who do a good job as well, but CBI is definitely reputable. Good builders like to work with them because they are fair, understand the standards, and know their stuff. Junky builders generally don't want inspectors like CBI looking over their shoulder.
