You'll have to be a little more specific - which part of Virginia compared to which part of Florida? Both states have regions within them that are incredibly different.

True, I've lived in both extensively and can certainly help, but.....

You can walk on the grass in Virginia
You can actually get the dirt off your pants in Florida
Virginia has lots of ticks
Florida has lots of fireants

Both states are beautiful. Blue Ridge Parkway in Va is awesome to drive!

One is warm and one is not. ( That does it for me personally )

Va has Virgina Beach and Florida has beaches everywhere.

If you asking which one I prefer over the other, of course its Florida, far more to offer then Virginia.

Both have areas I would not live in personally. But with that said both states have some amazing natural beauty which I like.

sorry I mean Richmond VA compared to maybe Tampa FL. I just want more things to do. I realize both cities aren't LA or anything but is Tampa more diverse than Richmond? Is there more things to do and is it cheaper? I'm getting bored here in Richmond does it mean i will be bored there too? I want a change of scenery and looking for a faster life. I really liked my visit to florida but it was just for a day. how is it living there?

If you are looking for more things to do and a faster life, Tampa would probably suit you just fine. The entire Tampa-St Pete area has great night life and LOTS of people. Pinellas county (St Petersburg and Clearwater) is the most densely populated in the state.

I've never spent any time in Richmond, only driven through, but it seems to be a nice town, but like you said, not a whole lot going on. I like the slow-paced life, so Tampa is not for me, but I'm sure you would like it.

I think you'll find living in SW Florida a much more active place I do. I can fish year round, I can golf year round, I don't hibernate in the winters like I did when I lived outside of DC.
Some people find the summer in Florida like the inverse of winter up north, but most find that the mornings and evenings in the summer are pleasant.
I know some people that can't get out of their own way and living in Florida doesn't change people, but the weather does give you more opportunities to get outside and enjoy life.

+1 for you. Finally someone gets it.

Get outside and enjoy life is what it is all about.

Not be bundled up inside because it is cold outside.

If you are not an outdoors person and love to stay inside year around live in the north, if you enjoy life and being outside doing whatever you want them live in Florida. Far to many things to do in Florida to be inside.
