Hello all!

My fiance and I are planning a January 2010 wedding in Key West. We are a little unsure of where to get married on the key. We would essentially like to get married on the beach but we aren't sure which one would be best. I have been to Key West before but didn't really go to too many beaches.

Also, any info on florists, photographers, hotels..... all of the above would be helpful!

Thanks!

There aren't a lot of beaches in Key West. But some of the resorts do offer wedding packages. Try googling Key West Weddings and see what you get.

The keys don't really offer beaches (at least not like the ones on the mainland) but I've known many people who have gotten married there. B&B's and gardens seem to be popular for that.

Courtney's Place is a great B&B, has several little cottages (some sleep up to 8 ppl) and separate efficiencies around the main house. Beautiful place.. She also use to have an agreement with one of the hotels so her guest could use their beach.

My LH and I stayed there several times. It is a short walk to Duval St or to the beach. It is in Old Towne.

The Beach at Fort Zachary Taylor, (a state park) is probably the most popular spot to get married in Key West. Receptions are held elsewhere though.

My location in the panhandle is very popular for weddings on the beach. There are several companies that specialize in making the arrangements for you. Locations, catering, dove releases, etc. I would assume that Key West has similar companies. (Let me know if there isn't and I'll start one!)
Try contacting the chamber of commerce for recommendations. And Best Wishes!

from a local:

smathers beach is where everyone gets married really. its not typical, its just nice b/c its the only real big long beach that you can get away from other people at.

another idea that my parents and other couples go for, is one of the historic houses, nd its definatly not as cheesy as the beach (our beaches naturally suck anyway) the autobahn house and the hemmingway house are two wedding spots ive accually worked before for a company called Great Events that throws things like weddings. (i dated the daughter of a supervisor there- really great hard-working local company:])

st. mary's catholic church, if you're the religious type, has been around for 100 years i think and is absolutely gorgeous.

photographers are everywhere- look up a guy named chris vidal if you want a real-life, personal gay photographer, he did my grad pics and is super awesome.

i would stay in old town, since you dont want to be commuting to everywhere that is interesting, honeymoonies are always walking around downtown, just checking out the sights, usually stay at like the hyatt, or the windam, the galleon, and the real favorite is the pier house. though their pool has nothing on the likes of the others named.

hope this helps, anything else feel free to message! one human family
