Hey everyone I've got a question for you Broward residents.
I am moving down to the Broward/Boca Raton area pretty soon.
I had compiled for myself a nice list of apartments I found on various sites spread around from Weston, Boca Raton, Coral Springs, Parkland and a few other towns that I cannot recall.
I went onto Apartmentratings.com and Apartmentreviews.com and was appalled at the amount of bad reviews, all the complexes with a few exceptions had nothing but complaints.
So eh, what is the deal?
Are there just a lot of whiners or are these places really that bad?
I also spotted a few that appeared to be staff members fluffing up the ratings a bit.

Now I was an exterminator in the past so I've seen a lot of dumps and can spot a "Clorox" treated model apartment easily.
But I also heard that a lot of places like to pull the whole bait and switch with some of the nicer models which does nothing to placate my concerns.

I am flying down with my fiance in August to see these places in person.
I guess I have two questions in this post.

1. Whats the deal with the negative reviews.
2. Anyone have any recommendations on better complexes?

I've got a pretty good range judging by the average: $1400 being the max.
Forgot to mention I am looking at 1Bedrooms that allow dogs under 20lbs.

Apartment complexes through the state of Florida suck, and that's all there is to it. 75 percent of apartmentratings.com is just plain whining, but there is certainly a grain of truth to some of what they say. Basically, anything above 25 percent approval is good (LOL go figure!!!). Complexes, however, tend to be really transient, the management companies tend to not care who are occupying them, and maitnence is looked at as secondary. If I were you, I would look for a rented condominium and just deal with a landlord. You are picking the right towns though!

Well that is unfortunate.
Rented Condominiums, check.

I have you and a few other posters to thank for the locations I chose. I've been lurking about this board for a bit and taking notes.

Excellent. I am in the Weston area and I LOVE IT! I have a lot of serious questions about the future of Broward County (whats happening in Coral Springs lately is really making me nervous) but then again, I have a lot of questions about the future of the United States. You are making the right choices, if you can afford these areas. I sent you a PM, so I am ready to answer specifics.

For note

Davie- Nice area, below average crime (actually very safe on the west half), has a few trailer parks, but mostly good people living in them who have been priced out of South Florida but still enjoy living here/don't want to leave, and want their children in the good school districts. Traffic is not bad. Close to work. Go Davie!
