Anyone have any ideas? We have been nurturing our St Augustine grass in our new home for over 14 years now and it really turned for the worse this year. 1/2 weeds no matter what we have done. We used to be able to maintain it (ourselves), fertilizing and de-weeding it ourselves, even put in a tank (for fertilizer to mix) with our sprinkler system to help, been great until this past year. We even put in new sod in some of the larger areas, and plugs in smaller, yet all has been dying off, even this new stuff...so we are TIRED OF THAT GRASS! Now I see we are getting moles...so that means mole crickets! UGH!!

Anyone have an ideas of a different kind of grass - one that is drought & sun tolerable and easier to maintain?

Going to the ag center (county ext. office) for some ideas...but wanted to ask you FLORIDIANS who may have had this experience and moved onto a better grass. What do you have?

I think it went bad (started about 2 years ago) due to all the empty lots (full of shade trees) which have now been replaced w/homes and our grass is FULLY exposed to that hot sun.

HELP!!

The lawn that takes the least amount of care is Bahia. It requires much less fertilizer, water, pesticides than does St. Augustine. It is really a pasture grass. To keep the weeds down you will need to cut high, 4 -5 inches. and in the summer it will need to be cut every 3-4 days.
