Hi Tina,

I moved to Volusia County around 3.5 months ago. I'm in Ormond Beach now and in the process of moving to Port Orange. You'll find crime is a bit higher in Daytona Beach itself, Deltona and DeLand. But I believe that Ormond, Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach are all okay. I think they are all really nice areas.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help.

Great thanks!

Also, being that you're in the area... can you tell me about the restaurants in Daytona? Are there many beachfront places?? I LOVE those!

Tina

More good news on the area! Thanks! It's looking better and beter.

Another question for Redwingfan...Do you know of that county needing teachers, aside from what the data states, etc.
Thanks....

I don't know for sure, but I know a teacher and she was saying that they need teachers at the school she's at (Atlantic). So I'm not sure if that's county wide or her school.

How about the crime? Would you say it's low, average, or above average in Volusia County?

Thanks!

Tina

I've already looked up the crime index for at leat Ormond Beach and Port Orange and both are below the national crime index number. I can't speak for the other cities in Volusia County, I didn't look them up.

I know there are some places in Daytona, but I don't know any specifics. I do know of 3 establishments in New Smyrna Beach that are situated on the ocean. All 3 have a casual atmosphere (one even has a pool.) A nice big burger and a draft beer while overlooking the beach is quite a treat.

There are some restaurants on the water... I know Racing's North Turn is one. There's a cool looking place on the Tomoka River in Ormond Beach, called River Grille on the Tomoka or something like that.
