Sorry if this has been asked before. I started looking through past threads and didn't see what I was looking for. Anyway, thinking of a week vacation in Florida around the end of Feb. Where's a good place that has:
- mild/warm, not oppressivly muggy, weather
- mellow beach area and attractions; not too crowded
- maybe places for easy bicycling
- kind of an artsy flavor
- low crime
- good restaurants

Any thoughts?

To start, I'd go over to the Gulf Coast to Sanibel Island, you can rent bikes there and good places to eat, great beaches and the best for picking up shells. Then spend a few days around Sarasota, also a great area.

For the time of year you stated you won't have the weather you were afraid of. It's a beautiful time of the year

I would stay away from the Daytona area the end of Feb. That's in the middle of Bike Week and it won't be very quiet over there at all.

You've had some great suggestions for the Gulf coast.

Also go over to Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor . Great people over there that will happily help you with travel related questions.

Have a great time.

We've been to Sanibel, it was beautiful. But this was pre-Charlie. I heard from someone up here whose mother lived there that it got hit pretty bad. Is it still intact? The landscape was soooooo beautiful.

This describes Rosemary Beach and the 30A area in the panhandle. I'll DM you my website and you can check out the area. I can hook you up if you're interested. Moderator cut: ..

Good stuff! And thanks for the Trip Advisor tip, Kali's Grandma. Sanibel Island area is still looking promising, but have to research a bit more. Thanks to all!

Daytona Beach is a great place. In fact I'll be headed over for the Daytona 500 this year. Got my tickets through my hotel, Daytona Bahama House, Daytona Beach hotels ocean front Bahama House. I can't wait to go, its still a month away.

Anybody else planning on going?
