Is the heat that miserable during the summer that we should not even consider vacationing in Florida?

I think the latest we've ever been down there was Memorial Day. We're thinking about going 4th of July, either Tampa or Jax...Is it worth it? Or will it be so hot we can't even enjoy the beach or being outside?

My family and I have vacationed during the summer months in Florida for many years, and each year has been better than the one before. Sure, it does get hot, but who cares when you are on vacation!! We just set our schedules to enjoy the best parts of the day (the relatively cooler mornings and evenings) to enjoy the most beautiful beaches in the world. There were few times that we felt the heat was too unbearable for us to enjoy the surroundings. I am hopeful to spend a couple of weeks again this summer, as well.

Florida isn't really hotter than a lot of places. Sure, it's hot and humid, but so is much of the US. The sun is strong, so use plenty of sunscreen. It rains every afternoon.

What kills us in Florida is that it is hot and humid for so long- at least 6 months.

The best time to come to Disney is about October or November, when the lines are shorter, and the humidity and heat is less intense. Unfortunately, summer seems to be prime time for Disney visitors, and I have some not-very-fond memories of disney in the summer as a kid!

Why hell yeah it's oppressive! Why not the NC or TN mountains? Or the Northwest?

Really have no plans to go to Disney, maybe Busch Gardens if we end up going to Tampa. My concern was more the beach and just general being outside. So I guess it will be bearable enough...Can't wait to get back its been far too long since we were last in Florida!
