Did anyone have this happen to them. Twice we have bought a new home.
and the mortgage company figures the taxes too little. When the actual bill comes in the builder did not pay his fair share of taxes while he owned the house, So the builder owes us money. We bring it to their attention and they pay us 6mos later. But how many people catch it. None. we got 400 back each time.
I guess the builder likes the extra money?

The escrow company should have taken care of that and make sure the taxes are paid. You can go to small claims with both builder and against the escrow company too. Obviously, they made a mistake. The title company/title insurance should insure you for that.

We just asked the builder for the money both times and they sent us a check.
