Moved b/c my mother was here. Otherwise, I most likely wouldn't have. The weather is nice, and I met my husband. I've liked it while I've been here 7 years, but we are ready to go now.

We moved from Long Island, NY and live in St Augustine, Florida. We moved for weather, lifestyle, better life for our kids, and to be able to pay for their college now rather than then. We have enjoyed Florida very much!!

Moved for weather, sunshine, the beach, and laid back life. Still looking for the right town to have that last one. Some places are not for me down here, but I will stay optimistic and keep searching for my perfect little piece of paradise!

I'm not there yet, but completely plan on moving there in the summer. I will be going to the Ft. Lauderdale area and I'm going for quality of life and my kids lives.

I don't yet, I'm working on that, the pay scale is less I know, so I'm taking my time.

Just keep in that in mind before you leave your job up north. Florida's low wages could put you in the same problem of not being able to afford a home.

Believe me that is on the top of my list. Thing is Daily, I make good money here, but I really only take home about 48K a year with all the taxes taken out. I think you would have to make about 65k in Florida for the same money. However, the houses are substantially lower than here in NY. I was looking at a condo here the other day that was listed for 489K. 3 bedroom 1400sq ft a garage but no yard and a maintenance fee of 320 a month. Do you get my drift. If I make 50k to 55, I don't mind to struggle a little more since it is for a cause, own home, better environment for my kids, etc.

But, I do thank you for making me aware in a nice way. Everything up to this point has been "no, what is wrong with you, why are you coming here - it is terrible here, don't leave NY."

I am just curious what do you mean by better environment for your kids?

a place my kids can ride a bike outside, activities that won't break my bank to get them into. There is just a difference. As I said before, I don't know that Florida is going to be that place for me, but I'm going to try and make a go of it and take it from there.
