My husband and I are empty nesters, thinking of relocating from central NJ to Ponte Vedra. Anyone have any thoughts on that town? I know it's highly considered, but I'm wondering what the fuss is about. Are the schools any good...very important for the investment. Any good hospitals in the area? We're on a budget of $500K - is that low for a single family home in that area? What is available culturally? Is that a retirement area or a family- oriented one? So many questions. Our other choice is Amelia Island. We'll be going down to FL this spring to take a closer look. Many thanks for any info you might share.

both are great places you will be able to find somethign in your budget in either place
I am more familiar with Ponte Vedra, I moved there from Central jersey 15 years ago.
It is a great mix of folks, the schools are St Johns county which are highly rated.
as far as "the fuss" well its Ponte Vedra
The TPC Players Championship is played every year at Sawgrass
