I am looking to relocate to Florida with my 2 kids and husband. I want to be able to drive no more than 40 minutes to work (wherever the most jobs are) but be in a safe neighborhood with no rowdiness or people hanging out in front of their homes. We dont have lots to spend so I am looking for new developments and upcoming neighborhoods. We re looking to spend around 100,000 and need at least 4 bedrooms and backyard. Any suggestions will be a huge help as Ive tried researching new communities and have not gotten anything! P.S. Im looking to buy before Dec. 2009.

Orlando may be your best bet if you are serious about moving to this state, as I read, because the region has the most job opportunites to offer, it will recover first.

Start your home search here-

Orlando, FL, Real Estate Listings and Orlando, FL, Single Family Home for Sale - REALTOR.com®

and ask questions about neighborhoods and jobs here-

I think that area will be your best bet to start getting a feel if what you are looking for is even in this state. Maybe someone else will have better leads for you.

I agree with Orlando, but it will be hard to find a 4BR house for that price range. You may want to look into the outskirts in Lake or Polk Counties. Jacksonville is also supposed to have a pretty strong economy (for Florida) but again, I am not so sure about the prices.

Even with the low real estate market you will not find what you want in Broward County.

Surprisingly, I plugged 4 bedrooms at $100,000 for Orlando into realtor.com and they do exist. Check the link.

You might want to try North Port in southern Sarasota county. You could find a newer home 4 bedroom or 3 with a den in that price range here.

From what I keep reading about North Port, there are no jobs there though. It's just south of me. Families are leaving because they can not find work.

For those where finding a job is not a concern, they can get GREAT deals on homes there for sure.

The job market is pretty crappy everywhere right now, but yeah North Port is no exception.

Florida has an 8% unemployment rate and it is growing rapidly. Its median income is $42,000, $10,000 less than Illinois (a state that everybody seems to be leaving). Don't come to Florida to live in a modular home and apply for a job at Home Depot. We sadly have enough of these folks.
