I like the white sand, turquoise water, and seashell abundance of the Gulf beaches. However, I like that the East Coast has the "real" ocean - next landfall, for the most part, is Africa ! The Gulf is, well, a gulf and not like the big old Atlantic. Kind of an odd reason to prefer the East Coast beaches, but this is actually a big factor in my preference for it.

Gulf Beaches. No comparison.

The only people who like the Atlantic Beaches are transplants from new york/new jersey who are used to:
1. cold water
2. stupid waves
3. trash and junk rolling up on the beaches
4. sharks

Gulf beaches much, much better.

Nope, your wrong my friend~! I'm from Kentucky and go yearly to Delray Beach, Boca and the Palm Beach County area. I love the beaches there and made lots of friends from up east there who either have moved to Delray or on vacation there. Very friendly folks from up east, not all....but many.

Well, it's really all subjective isn't it? I prefer Gulf side hands down, so much so I never even want to visit the Atlantic Coast. Not interested in that scene or those beaches at all, except for the once-in-a-blue-moon visit to St. Augustine.
