My husband and I are planning on celebrating our first anniversary (belated Honeymoon) in the Keys. Are there any nice, cheap hotels that you would recommend? We already live in Florida, so we'll just be driving down. Also, I was browsing around the net for things to do besides the Duval Crawl... what would you recommend? We'll be heading down there in June btw. I appreciate your recommendations in advance

We took a sunset wine cruise last year that was lots of fun. Don't wear a white top and drink red wine though.

The Hemmingway House was cool, I loved the cats.

We also went to the Little White House and took that tour, which was very interesting!

There's a bar on the roof of the La Concha, they usually have a band playing at sunset, and you can have a drink, listen to some good tunes, and watch the sun go down without the craziness of Mallory Square.

There are no cheap hotels in Key West, but they're probably cheaper during the summer. Just check out one of the travel websites....or a travel agency.

There is a trip we had scheduled, but the boat had a mechanical problem. It was a snorkeling trip to the Dry Tortugas. We ended up taking another snorkeling trip to a reef, but I'd still like to do that Dry Tortuga trip. I wish I still had the paperwork, but....maybe you can find it by searching. And the trip itself would be worth it even if you don't care to snorkel.

Thanks. I tried the travel guide online a few weeks ago and found alot of good links to some really cool places. But I was mostly looking for the stuff that most tourists wouldn't know about unless they had been and just bumped into it. I appreciate the recommendations and I will look into boat trips and the like. Again thanks

Eat at Santiagos Bodega--it's off the beaten path out of the tourist district--you'll probably want to take a cab. Great food--make a reservation, the place is REALLY SMALL.

Chelsea House or Red Rooster are very nice. You can walk to Duval easily.

The Gardens Hotel
Ambrosia and Ambrosia Too

Courtney's Place a B&B in Olde Town. They have private rooms to cottages. You can walk to Duval St or to the beach. A nice secluded place off of the beaten path.
