Hi Everyone,
I've just been offered a job at Homestead AFB. The job pays about $53,000 yr and I have no serious debit (except car, 1 visa, insur, etc). I keep hearing that the area is extremely expensive, so is it even worth relocating for this salary???
I also hear Homestead is not the greatest of places to live, so what other areas can I look at as far as housing goes? I don't mind a 30-35min commute and I'm not looking to buy anything since I only plan on being there for about 2yrs at the most.
Thank you in advance for any advice

L

Talking Take It

Take the job and don't look back...there are plenty of places to live down there...and I am sure you can contact the Human Resourses Person who will be able to steer you in the right direction...you might also look into an extended stay hotel for the first few weeks...they offer kitchens...a larger living area...and the best part...it is all deductible off your taxes...I am not sure what the time limit is for the deduction...but that is easy enough to find out...

My father had the same opportunity to take a transfer to Hawaii when he was in the Navy...he often brings it up...and I am sure that if was not for his family...he would of taken it...Good Luck...

Actually, you can find a lot of cheap places in Homestead. It isn't luxury, but Homestead isn't bad. It has a rural feel with lots of farms, and a Southern feel.
