That being said, most people who move to Orlando will be just fine as long as they exercise common sense and do end up picking the right neighborhoods.
Excellent post my man Compelled. You are spot on about Orlando. I'd give you a cyber high-five but I've thrown my arm out.

The crime is everywhere, it's not confined. So why someone says Orlando is a cakewalk compared to DC, I am sure that in parts, he/she is right. But in Orlando, you can live in Waterford Lakes, Avalon Park, Baldwin Park, Doc Phillips or Windermere, and it's not suprising to see crime that you wouldnt expect. You'd say to yourdelf, "no, not in that area, houses are $300, 400 thousand dollars..... now way someone got killed in a home invasion. But it happens in Orlando.

In all honesty, most (not all) of Orlando and Orange County except for downtown/Thornton Park/College Park, Winter Park, Maitland, Dr. Phillips, Windermere, Hunters Creek and Eastwood/most of Waterford Lakes could be considered above-average in overall crime. Most of Orlando does not really have a "ghetto" feel, the high crime comes more from the area's transience and strange economic structure. The best piece of advice is in the post above above!
Bithlo's crime only accounts for less than 2% of total crime in Orlando. Waterford Lakes and Avalon accounts for more, so keep that in mind you wealth of statistical knowledge. Suprisingly so, huh?

Bithlo also accounts for about 5,000 of a county with over a million people, so all things considered that's pretty bad. Bithlo is pretty shady IMO. Did find out that Bithlo is "only" 87% white though.
