Sugarloaf isn't in Clermont. It's part of unincorporated Lake County and would have either a Minneola or Astatula mailing address. I would be very leery of building there--none of the amenities have been completed and it doesn't seem like the developer is in any rush to build them. And in my opinion what they are trying to charge for the homesites is outrageous. $400K for a golf view on a little over half an acre is absurd!

Greatly appreciate the info you are all providing! I'm going to look into all these areas. There is much more to explore than I originally thought there would be. Love a project!

Sugarloaf Mountain has been annexed into Minneola and has lot prices from low 100's to high 300's. The 400 thousand lot is 3/4 acre and it has two features, golf frontage and a view of the City lights of Orlando by night.

When the market turns Minneola will be one of the best areas to live, work and play as it has topography reminiscent of rolling foothills of Northern States and it's been planned with biking, walking trails, parks (one is 168 acres). Green will be the focus as Minneola allows the devolvement of the PUD area to be called the Hills of Minneola. The cleaning of Lake Apopka has been a long planning process, they have finished the construction phase and started the process of cleaning.

Although it's rural now that will change, vision.

I wish they would have built more architecturally interesting homes and had better landscaping design in that area. The areas that they already built (ruined) could have looked so much nicer if they didn't turn it into a hilly Poinciana. There are a few nice developments but overall it's pretty bland looking. I think they should of either built the houses in a northern FL/southern style or at least done the quasi-Boca thing in the hills. Those central FL cracker jack box style homes really don't do anything for the rare topography of the area. I like it better before they built it, though. In the 90s it reminded me a lot of Kentucky!

Also keep in mind that if the mayor of Minneola has his way, there will be a large horse racing and casino gambling facility about two miles from Sugarloaf in a few years.

I agree Compelled. They took an area of FL that was so unique (hilly) and then put little 1500 sq ft houses (for the most part) scattered all over the hills, so you have this beautiful area that now just looks like a typical FL cookie cutter neighborhood. Some areas are still kinda rural though, where houses are big and spread out, but I know what you mean, too many square boxes with concrete views instead of views of hills, which is what it should have looked like. Oh well. It's still nice.
