I'll put a third vote in for Sarasota. Gypsychic and live2love have said everything I would have said about Sarasota. Artsy, eclectic, cool community....

The downtown area has a great vibe and I don't get the hoity-toity feel at all. For what's it's worth, I was born and raised here.

Thank you Scientific Madness; the only problem with Asheville that I've seen on my recent trip is that the surrounding areas are very very conservative and if employment doesn't work out in such a small town there is a lot less to draw from, so a larger area with more plentiful opportunities makes me feel a bit more secure in terms of employement options. Thank you again for your ideas and perspective.

I went to the 2007 Bob Marley Festival in Miami and everybody there was smoking herb in plain sight of several uniformed City of Miami police. They were obviously given the "let 'em toke" memo. Intrestingly, most of the people at the rasta-concert were white kids from OUT OF MIAMI, mostly West/Central Florida.

In Miami, they are too busy trying to bust Hector with 100 kilos of puro from Colombia to worry about a bunch of rich white kids smoking joints.

Hope that helps.

^ and what does this have to do with the OP's questions? I think you live on this forum to just bash Miami every chance you get.

True, him and a few others live on this forum to bash (insert city/state) here.

Sad and unproductive.

That is exciting! Be sure to let us know if you have any more questions before you get here! It's a good time to visit since we are now "off-season" so you will be able to get anywhere or do anything with ease.

Good luck!

Sound policy, IMHO.

Potheads don't typically slit each other's throats over a bag.
