Palm Coast isnt a city, its the worlds largest subdivision... filled to the brim with new yorkers... great for some, a runaway train wreck to others.

I lived there 2 years and hated it.. it's dead.. Crime is fine but right next to you is bunnell which is a drug nation...No jobs and not much to do at all and once it's dark it's dark no lights it's almost like being out in the woods.. Even route 1 is dark that's ridicolous...

City of Palm Coast and Flagler County overall have been home to the fastest population growth in the nation, particularly between 2004 and 2007. Recession and the slowdown in building and real estate industries hit this area hard since 2008. Obviously the business and population growth slowed down since 2008.

But this micro-area is still home to over 2,000 businesses and it is still among the fastest growing in the nation. I think in 2008 it was in Top-5, and in 2009 it was in the Top-10.

Since mid-2009, there is now an attempt towards diversification of industries to be brought to the area, and particularly attracting new businesses in technology and other progressive fields. The city and the community are working hard to these goals.

Palm Coast is a City, and though it looks like a large suburb, and it behaves city-like; urban-like. The infrastructure in Palm Coast cannot be compared with Bunnell or Flagler Beach: Bunnell has a lot of character as a much older Florida town with charm, but also with trouble, and a lot of pains. Flagler Beach is a sweetheart of a beach community, it has the old-small-town beach community charm, and that's all there is. When you compare those two to Palm Coast, that is exactly an apples-to-oranges comparison.

For the social elements and to connect with the folks who live in Flagler County, there are two great, collaborative, interactive communities on Facebook:

http://facebook.com/PalmCoast.FL and http://facebook.com/FlaglerBeach.FL
(if the links don't work, just copy and paste them to your browser)

It's easier for one to complain about where we live than to contribute to the area in a meaningful way. Without contributors, no City, no County, and no Country could have advanced. As a young, diverse, organized, and progressive city Palm Coast has a need for way more contributors than complainers. I hope the new arrivals in population will be those of the contributing type...

Sincerely,

Your Palm Pal

Personally, there is not a single thing about Palm Coast that I like. But, to each his own. This is a very solid post.

Great post Palmpal! Thank for the links. I didn't know about those facebook pages, but I'll check them out. I can't think of a single thing I don't like about Palm Coast! I LOVE it here and so does my family.

You must be older. There are no activities there and no where to go. Most people travel for work the unemployment rate is through the roof. When it's night it's dark as can be even on major highways. Other than it being FL i didn't like a single thing about it.

Old is relative. I have two small children and I don't consider myself old. You really seem to have a problem with the lack of streetlights, don't you? We love the darkness at night--the stars here are amazing. Individuals can buy their own streetlights if they feel the need. Someone on our street has one, but it's far enough away not to interfere much with our star gazing! My son is learning the constellations for one of his cub scout badges.
