I am moving from Califonria. Have a 4 year old and am just curious... I hear bad things about schools in Florida. It cant be that bad, can it? Isnt it really what the parents and kids make of it or is it bad?

Also, I heard about the FREE voluntary pre k for 4 year olds in Florida. Anyone using that service or have thoughts on that?

Thanks - Clarissa

The schools are good. Not the best but good. Depending on where a person lives matters too. Our schools down here in Punta Gorda got all A's.
The surrounding counties didn't do as well.
The pre-K is free now. I don't know much about that because my kids are all grown now and graduated from Charlotte High.

I went to school in Marion County (Ocala) in the 1980's. Of course the region has drastically changed since I lived down there, but at that time they had some of the best schools in the state. My dad was a state trooper so we moved a lot. But I can honestly say that I learned more while I was in Marion County schools than I did anywhere else we ever lived.
