Just wondering, what are considered to be the most Southern city in Florida, in terms of accents, culture, 'feel', etc? I'm sure they exist. My knowledge of FL is mostly Miami, WPB, Ft. Lauderdale, and the rest of SE Florida. I've lived in Orlando for a year, so know a tad about Central FL, and NONE of these places mentioned are Southern really at all...try finding sweet tea even in Orlando! My knowledge of ANYTHING North of Orlando is very small, so I'm probably just missing them. Pensacola? Tallahassee? Gainesville? Thank you!

There is a big difference between north Florida and south Florida. The area from Gainesville north and then west to Pensacola has a culture more typical of the South. Try places like Madison, Live oak, Monticello, Marianna or some of the bigger cities like Tallahassee or Pensacola.

Smile My Florida

I was born in Daytona Beach. When I was growing up in the 50's and 60's, Florida then was very much the old south, (this was pre Martin Luther King and his marches.) We were still under segregation. I never went to school with African American children. The black folks lived on the west side of the railroad tracks, the white people on the east. Of course that's all changed now, probably for the best. Remnents of the old south remain in north Florida, especially as one get closer to the Georgia line.

Micanopy is south of Gainesville--perhaps that's the southern-most Southern city?
