Yes...32. There is still snow on the peaks of Killington.
Is that winter enuff for you ?
Now, at 1:00 it is up above 60. Yes....In Vt. you
will run your heater sometimes for 9 months of the
year unless you are Grizzly Adams.
Yes, the nights have been usually cold for May. Sometimes in May we have unusually hot periods also. I can remember many a May when I had to put the A/C on and I don't unless it goes into the 85+ degree range. I work the overnight shift so I know how cold it still is at night (40s) this year, but I don't have my heat on. What I am doing this year is keeping my flannels and down comforter on longer than I usually do. My daughters are home at night. My younger daughter, who played ice hockey and went to college in Maine and Cortland, NY, has her summer bedding on though. She was complaining it was TOO HOT. lol I guess given her sport and where she went to school, cold doesn't bother her as much.

She played many games, tournaments, and camps in Vermont, so we have been there, all times of the year. It's very pretty, especially in the winter. Looks like a Currier & Ives picture.

Perhaps being a hockey family affects our views. No matter where you are, or what the temperature is outside, inside an ICE RINK it has to be BELOW FREEZING.

You aren't being realistic or fair in your assessment as far as I can tell.... I don't know NG's specific circumstances, but I can speak to the fact that reaching a financial "comfort zone" might seem like a wonderful benefit, but it simply isn't always. ESPECIALLY when real estate prices, taxes and insurance suddenly blow up to rediculous proportions..

Again, I'll ask why all those complaining about the northern winters wait to retire and don't just move down here now??? Why do they wait??? Why b**ch about the winter??? What, they didn't KNOW Massachusettes got cold??? Just move and DO something about it now, right???

Or does that line of thinking only work when you love it here and are annoyed with people who don't???

It isn't that simple to up and move your life and I'll repeat that issues in Florida, INCLUDING WEATHER have seemed to magnify in the last five years....... Please deny it.....

This is exactly what I did except from nj. Got tired of complaining about the weather and moved....

I am not moving OUT of New York for the weather. I am not moving INTO Florida for the weather.

How about that?

Well, I dont use AC, so neener neer billy goat ....na na nana na na

Really though.....It snowed on Easter, here...
It just gets old after a while...'Winter' to me means more than
cold weather. It means darkness for longer periods than light,
trees with no leaves for longer periods, that wacky winter
depression people go into, and for this winter...getting royally
gouged by energy companies even though the thermostat is
only at 60. Im moving to FLA in June only due to a family situation,
Im not a 'florida' type person I am looking forward to not having
to suffer this stuff, thats all. But, yeah, Ill probably be like everyone
else and complain how hot it is a year from now

Moving in June also, but I plan to hybernate as much as possible, at least through about January. lol If I really cannot take it, I may even work the overnight shift to avoid the heat, as much as I DETEST that. Looking at ALL options right now.

i'm a florida native too --- and i will take the heat over the cold. atleast you got a/c and shade. i think it is easier to escape heat than to escape cold. just my opinion.

Put it this way-I would take FL heat over icy cold winters anyday. After living in FL the long, cold winters are depressing to me. I miss our heat and our sun showers!!
