I think what I find annoying is due to things like the talk-show like Weather Channel, provincialism, and other things, many Americans believe what I can only call “TV Weather”. TV Weather can be quite different from real weather and climate. Some people hate facts. Americans (southerners in particular) seem to think the northeast from DC to the Tri State area (NY/NJ/CT) is cloudy and gray 12 months a year. It just ant so baby.

I live in the Northeast (coastal CT) and wish I lived in a climate that had mild temps from November to March (the rest of the year I think is great) like Florida or California.
Also, I don’t think anyone is supposed to say “dang” Florida sucks. Florida is nice, I may even move there, but it’s a FACT that they have less sunny days than Southwest. Why do some people hate anything forces them to change their view of the world they think they know?

Sometimes educating people can be very lonely.
Yeah, reading comprehension can be tough..... I agree...

I saw a person complaining about heat and humidity. Not sure what stats on "total days of sunshine" has to do with that really, especially in Florida. Sun doesn't have to be shining brightly to get 90+ degrees and oppressive humidity....

I know, you'll be back in 30 seconds showing us how it is hotter in Guadalajara or something next, but it doesn't make Florida any more comfortable a climate for many...

Oh well...... Anyway, forgive the tone of my last post. As usual it comes across as more argumentative than I really intend to.....

Guess MY point is that Florida may not be the hottest in the country, may not be the sunniest in the country, and may not be the most humid in the country.... But as far as a stifling combination of the three for a long period of time it's up there baby!!!

I guess I'm different. I love the cooler weather, and I've lived in Florida for 15 years total.

Let me tell you something about Florida summers... the worst part is the sun, not the heat or humidity. Wearing shorts, t-shirts, and flipflops is just nasty in what the sun can do to you. Then you walk into an AC building and freeze. It's not very fun. I would suggest wearing khaki pants and a light colored long sleeve shirt + hat to survive Florida summers. Sunburns don't feel good. People who have been here a while, you can tell... the women look about ten years older than they should, and it doesn't do much good for the men, either.

The high heat of summer only lasts a few months. From June until about September or August. During this time highs in the day can get up to about 90-96 degrees. With those temperatures, still, it cools off in the morning and evening. Bring a pack lunch to work and stay out of the heat during the day, and it is liveable. It's the people that get into their 130 degree cars and walk from AC to heat that are going to have problems. Really, the summer is no different than what you'll experience in places like Virginia, Maryland, or the rest of the south- the summers are humid all over those places. It is not Arizona, but the humidity is not 100 percent. More like 75-80 at most. Florida is not that humid. If you've grown up in the midwest, it is a little more humid but there are some places in the midwest like Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma etc. that aren't exactly dry.

Oh, and the summer I do ride around in leather. How do I tolerate it. Lots of Gatorade and staying out of the hottest parts of the day if I can. It is far better when I'm riding a motorcycle to stay covered up and sweat a little than to have 96 degree air blasting over your body at 40-50 mph, turning you into wind-burned beef jerky. That is really miserable, you feel like you are baking. So... don't talk to me about heat and sweating, for me it's a profession all year. It is just part of life, get over it.

Florida has gotten hotter just like the rest of the country. You can blame global warming. I remember as a kid it Tampa winter lasted somewhat longer than it does now. We had hot summers but winter seemed to last for months un-interrupted. This year we got maybe 6 weeks of real winter, then it was over.

I LOVE the sun...in fact when my daughter gets home from school, I think I am going to take her up to the community pool and baste myself in suntan oil and soak some of it up...

I LOVE that I can wear shorts, sandals and short sleeved shirts most of the year here.

I used to try that when I was struggling financially..... "Dang I hate my little apartment and don't have a lot of furniture, but hey..... I could be homeless or Ethiopian or something....". It just never worked. In fact, that attitude is a justification for NOT doing anything about your current situation, so I'm surprised an advocate of Florida would cheer on this approach. (obviously you don't subscribe to the, 'if you don't like it just move' theory...

So people are supposed to go, "Dang Florida sucks!!! It's so hot and oppressive for a good portion of the year, but hey!!! I could be living in Yuma, Arizona so I got that going for me...."

Good post VA Fury.

So how is everyone doing with the start of the heat and humidity season? Are you ready for 5 months of this?

We went to eat at a super eatery at Crane's Roost Park in Altamonte Springs last night. We walked around the lake after dinner. It warm and breezy. It reminded me of home much I love it here in Florida.

I'm ready for summer!

Today is June 5th. This is the first week of the stifling summer. We had our sliders opened up until then. Where is the 9 months of summer?
