OK, I've moved as far away geographically as possible, the wonderful State of Washington.

I see at least two FL license plates a week, and I talk to them about the pros and cons of moving up here.

Plus the fact that I HATE THE FACT that I'm displacing good folks like me, which is the same thing that happened to me.

People up here tell me "It's OK, you don't demand we conform to your culture."

How about you?
Like any state it depends on where in the state you live. I lived there in Washington for a time and from what I saw it was overrun with homeless people and druggies. That was in Seattle though, I am sure there are sections of Washington that are tolerable. I hated it there though and could not wait to get home.
Just to ask, what is it you were running away from in Florida and what is it you think you were running to with the move? In almost any state geography, you can move as little as maybe 10 or 20 miles and be in a completely different environment. Why the 3000 mile move? I think you are not telling us the whole story.

Okay, the next time I cut the line at Publix, I'll strike a life-long conversation with the cashier in a Southern accent.

Nosey, aren't we? Good going on the generalizations. You are perfect for Florida.

It's not as full of druggies and homeless where I am. Plus it doesn't rain as much in the Eastern half.

Don't miss the NY accents. At all. Or the heat. The humidity. The bugs. You name it. I do miss my family who is still there.

Life is partially what you make of it, partially what others have done to it.

It's The Trite Thing to say no one impacts your life. It's just not true.

Just found out an interesting bit of info. Most people moving into Washington & Oregon are leaving California.

Second most popular state: Florida.

That says a lot.

This is great...right on the money. When I lived in NH it was mainly people from Mass. with a completely different accent than NY/Jersey though.

After the first sentence and before the very last, this sounds more like Jamaican Patois...

I was born in SW Florida (Bradenton) and now live in North Port (Sarasota county). I've been all over the US and elsewhere but I love Florida and doubt I will ever leave. I have lived in every city from Bradenton to Punta Gorda. To me the weather is perfect, the beaches are great, the people wonderful, the schools are outstanding. I couldn't ask for anything more. I feel fortunate to be able to live where I want and have a job that I love.

Florida is not for everyone but it works out great for me and my family
