I had an idiot for a boss back when I was 20 and going to college, he ran a GAS STATION(yes, high class retail environment) for his brother, so one day he comes out to me and says "Bob said you have to remove the earrings while you are at work" So I said to him, "first thing... this is a gas station, not Disney World, and for the second thing, if he wants them out he can come out here and tell me himself". My ex girlfriend worked there at the time, she had earrings I told him, are you going to tell her to take hers out? The answer was "she is a girl, and can wear them"... Double standard. 10 minutes later his big wuss brother came out said "Hey Chris, how are you?" then walked away....... Not a word about them... I never took them out no matter how many times I was told to by his idiot brother John, he could bite me... I was there for 2 years. tattoos are no big deal, they are so mainstream now, not many people care. So many people out there are so stuck in 1946, it's rediculous. I think the area code thing is really stupid, but tattoos are fine...... never was denied a job anywhere for having one. RIGHT ON MY FOREARM.

The use of area code or other miscellaneous tattoos on one's body can indeed lead to unpleasnat circumstances sometimes.

Ex-girlfriend of mine, who I initially thought was vey virtuous, apparently felt the need to tattoo the name of each of her "conquests" on her body.

After I became another trophy for her and it was my turn to be imprinted, she discovered that there was no room left for me.

We both wished we could undo the deeds - she, all her tattoos, and me, being just another fleeting moment for her.

i dont imagine any of us here are pirates, but apparently some of us are still stuck in the ways of old, which is fine for you, but you just happen to be wrong, there are PLENTY of VERY successful individuals with tattoos

1st thing...tattoo or not...an employee talks to me or my representative like that in my place of business, you'd no longer have a job...and it wouldn't be about the earings or the tattoos.

I have a tattoo...not something stupid like an area code.....have we established yet that this is not just a Florida thing?........and I have a successful career.

It can be and is covered during working hours. My boss's place.....my boss's rules.
I also believe that there's a time and place for everything.
