I was reading in today's Sun Sentinel that there will be a tax increase in our water bill. Since water usage is down, the cities have to make up the difference in order to pay employees, etc.

Did anyone else see this article? Is it legal for cities to do this?

Thank you.

Not surprising. Expect to see more of this if property tax gets eliminated. You can squeeze a bag of slimey politicians and move them out of one area, but they'll manifest in another area trying to leech money.

Florida has enough rainfall that you could convert to a metal roof and cistern, and eliminate that utility entirely. You might just get away with it now, what with all the fearmongering that Florida is going to run out of water. "But zoning board, I'm just trying to help out and go green! I don't need your water anymore." Could be worth it just to watch the sputtering.

Some people still have wells. Another benefit of rural living.
