are there any famous people in florida? not from the area.

My wife and I are wanting to move to florida, havent really decided where yet. we have 2 girls, a 7 year old and an 11 month old. we are wanting a nice neighborhood and an apt with an alarm or gated access. would like for the neighborhood to have kids that are around the same age that their parents just dont let them run around and not take care of(want the kids raised right(good kids)). we would like something around $500-$600/month. we are currently in jasper, in and paying $450/month but our cost of living is less then florida. any suggestions? pros and cons about the areas would be great.

You'll have a hard enough time finding a place to live on that budget, let alone finding one near famous people. There are plenty of famous people here, but if you want to be anywhere near any of them (except some of the ones famous for being criminals--and I'm not talking Wesley Snipes) you better come up with at least ten times more rent each month.

Seriously, a nice neighborhood with an alarm and gated access for that price range? Very, very highly doubtful. The area I live in outside of Orlando, a nice safe 2BR apartment in a gated community with an alarm will rund you $1100 and up, plus all utilities including water. And I don't live in the most expensive area by any means.

This question can lead to another entire thread - Why the need to be near famous people?

Personally I wouldn't want the media circus that comes with living near a famous person.

Not only would that rent be tough if not impossible in any nice area of Florida, but you will multiply Florida's rent by several times for California. Both states have horrific unemployment right now, so be sure you have secure jobs before you move.

First, not everybody will rent to kids, but more over your price range will not get you anything with room enough for four people in a neighborhood you would want to live in. In fact, that money may not even get you a place in a slum. Maybe a small guest cottage or a small efficiency somewhere but that is about it. How did you come up with that price range?

Keep in mind that not "famous" people are wealthy or live in nice neighborhoods. Casey Anthony comes to mind.

It'll cost you a lot more to live around some of FL's finest... OJ Simpson, Rush Limbaugh, Tiger Woods, Wesley Snipes, etc...

Kidding aside, there are some famous people here, at least part-timers. Most are much better people than the ones I mentioned above. Many do it for tax reasons though, so dont be too fooled by it, LOL.
