Hello all,

I am moving to Florida next Summer and I was wondering what is the best city for dating. I lived in Moscow, Russia for about 13 years and now it's going to be my 11th year in Kansas City, MO. I have to tell you that Kansas City is by far the worst in dating life. So, I was wondering about Florida. How's dating life there? What is the best city where I can meet a lot of single girls?

I guess it depends on your age. Sarasota is known for it's cougars. They even have a show called Cougar Town based in Sarasota. What's your age?

Are you looking for a long term relationship or just a fling? Pensacola is great for flings (example: one night stands with drunks from the clubs) but if you are looking to settle down, you may want to look elsewhere.

Well, Miami has a ton of "nightlife" South Beach, etc. But it's pretty busy and I'm not as crazy about the beach on that side as the gulf side.

Tampa has stuff going on and decent beaches, etc. I also wouldn't rule out the Sarasota area. It's very artsy, beachy, etc.

If I were you I'd take a week or so and just explore a few different area in FL. Just under Tampa is the frostline so you're going to find it hotter from Tampa south with more tropical foliage, etc.

The youngest cities in Florida are Cutler Bay (incorporated in 2005), West Park (incorporated in 2005), Grant-Valkaria (incorporated in 2006) and Loxahatchee Groves (incorporated in 2006).

As you might have heard, much of FL is a retirement state so many of the cities are going to have an older population (at least older than you). What kind of things are you looking for in a city other than dating?

Good luck with your search

Are you looking to go to college or get a degree?

Lots of young singles in the college towns of Gainesville and Tallahassee. And they also have community colleges there if you can't get into UF or FSU (with the budget cuts, the standards are much much harder to get in).

There's more things to do in Tallahassee if you aren't connected to the University but Gainesville is straight up a college town. But keep in mind, that the dating can suck in these places too especially if you are a young professional or not into the club or bar scene. But at least the demographics would be much better than most parts of Florida.

Miami women are not known for being good relationship material. In addition the prevalence of nonwhite women sets a limit on physical attractiveness. Cultural differences can be an extreme challenge for those with all-American values. The rest of Florida, and the country in general is not much better, but the experiences of friends and acquaintances suggests that Miami may be good for a fling (LOTS OF HOT TOURISTS) but not the best place for a mate. The fossils are often unpleasant neighbors but many of the retirees have single relatives, so you never know who will pop up.

I am looking to go to college and get a degree. My parents live in Jacksonville area, so I'll probably move close to that area.

tallrick,

Cultural differences shouldn't be a challenge to me since I am half Russian and half American.

Besides dating, I am looking for a place where I can go to school and work.
