Hello!

My husband is a nurse and we are looking to move to Florida next October, 2010 on a traveling nurse gig from KY.

With traveling nursing, we are unable to choose our exact city we want to move into, but, most agencies will work with us with our preferences in finding work. So I would like to have anywhere from 3-5 cities in mind while, as well, shop around for an agency that will get us closest to those cities as well as provide us with the best benefits.

We are in our mid-late twenties and looking for a clean town that is def. bigger than the small college town we are currently living in (total pop = 20,000, about 12,000 during the summer)

We are really leaning towards living on the west coast (gulf side)

Some of the things we are looking for:

-great beaches
-I'm hoping for somewhere with a great shopping district, something like a
Victoria's secret, Maurices, target etc. It would be nice to not have to travel over an hour, just to shop
- good school district for subbing
- city life
- wildlife activities

so..any help or input from locals would be great thanks!!!!

I know that Venice Regional Medical center and Lee Memorial (Fort Myers) have inhouse travel positions, although you have to look for your own housing I believe. A nurse I know does a 16 week contract at Venice..makes $40 an hr.I think most of the larger hospitals in South Fl will do that during the busy season. I was considering that myself but it probably won't be this year.
