We are living in Upstate NY. We are thinking of moving to Central Florida in February 2010. We have 34 years old with 3 kids, a 16, 10, 9 yrs old looking for a place with a median cost of living and GOOD schools, quiet place, clean, close to everything and we dont want a place close to the ocean... :-) IMP. not partying nightlife. I need a place with a lot of activities for the kids (kids are my priority)

We would appreciate any suggestions.
Thank You
God Bless you.

I'd probably think Seminole County north of Orlando for school quality and activities. Or alternately, the Gainesville area. Ocala seems to be a little more retiree-oriented to me.

If youre flexible and you can find work in your Field , look at The Panhandle as its the cheapest place in Florida to live . Tremendous deals on homes right now, property taxes silly cheap, strong culture of morals, values, ethics....big family area, incredible beaches nearby , lots of activities for family fun, State parks and State forests all around for camping, tubing, hiking...and I-10 runs right thru the middle of it. If you are able to consider the Panhandle, take a few days to scope out the area around Niceville/Valparaiso/Crestview/Holt/Milton/Pace, Fl. (30 minutes or less to Pensacola and 40 minutes or less to the beaches) .

Not trying to be negative, but I've heard that employment prospects in Florida are pretty scarce right now...hope you have jobs lined up. I have done quite a bit of research as I had planned to relocate there myself. I was looking at Citrus County, but hadn't ruled out the area a little further southwest, around Port Charlotte and Northport. Not being able to sell my house has delayed my plans. But I'm retired and have no kids, so the lack of work and questions about the quality of the schools were not an issue for me.

Every day I see kids walking down the road with fishing poles headed off to a canal. I can hear the distant sounds of AVT's and motorcross bikes racing through the many trails to the north of Cape Coral. I have a 2 year old son and I hope this area does not begin to grow again before he can experience the county boy life style, even though we are only 5 minutes from all the big city life experience we want.
