Hi,

I have been in Florida (Hallandale) for several months now, and I have a question about pay periods. I work on contract for a company, and my contract states that I will be paid on the 15th and 30th of each month. Several times now my payday has fallen on the weekend and my employer waits until Monday to pay me.

I am guessing that laws on this vary from state to state, and I would like to know about Florida, or is there a federal law that covers this? I tried to do an internet search but all I got was websites for payday loan(sharks), unfortunately.

Thanks in advance, this is pretty worrisome to me.

What they are doing doesn't violate the law as far as I know. You are under contract, so the means by which you are paid are governed by that contract.

Long story short, read your contract to see if they are violating its terms.

I worked for a company that had the same set up, but if those dates fell on the weekend they usually would pay it that Friday afternoon, knowing nothing would post till Monday anyways. As long as you are getting payed on that Monday after I wouldn't make a big deal out of it.
