So give the OP a break before you start the usual Florida bashing regime AGAIN!

Whatever happened to the OP "I Need a Change"?
You're right......

INeedAChange,

Was this even what you meant by your question or have we gone off on an unrelated - but kinda fun - tangent?

Crawdaddy's in Jensen Beach has live jazz Jensen Beach is not "sleepy" it is on the coast. You can find the tiki hut type bars on Hutchinson Island-mins away. hmm not sure about the fire pit though. I don't think the girls in Jensen are as materialistic as they are in the bigger cities (of course you'll find some like that anywhere).

Great, World class blues at Bamboo Room in downtown Lake Worth. Big names.

Your HIV stats may give the wrong impression. The reason HIV is high in South Florida is because HIV and AIDS is rampant among the Haitian community. That is fact. Don't construe it as racism.

Default riveree...

I haven't looked at this thread in days...I guess what I meant was is it a better lifestyle for single people in Fla. (i.e. a more logical choice to move there than if you have a family, or want to start a family) , since many of the people on here are upset that it's difficult to find good schools there, not so much whether it's easy to pick people up

See what happens when you leave us alone, INeedAChange.

I think once people have kids or plan to, they are going to be a bit more cautious about a big move across state lines, so they probably do a lot more research and ask a lot more questions......they're looking out for the little guys. So, the forum may be colored a bit by the "family" perspective.

I mentioned in another thread that Florida has never been known for having good schools...people don't move to Florida for the schools, they move here for other reasons.

I remember your situation from previous posts, you're in a unique situation where you can make the move without too much holding you back, but I know you want to make the "right" move too.

So is Florida better for singles than for families? I think it's about the same. From my perspective in Florida, it seems to be a real mix of single and families and I see the benefits to both groups.

Unless you moved to a bedroom community or a rural area (which I would not recommend for single people), I don't think you'll land yourself in a neighborhood where you're surrounded by families and you're the only single.

I would suggest choosing a place with some vibrancy, some nightlife - whether you plan to use the nightlife much or not - these places will have other singles so if and when you want to "hook up", you'll be all set.

Default Florida

Florida is a large state and every county diverse. Some are rural and agricultural, others more metropolitan, and others are just suburbia. As for dating, it would probably depend on who you are and what you want. If you aren't a "chick magnet" (assuming you're a guy) where you are, you won't be in Florida either. But I am a firm believer in there is someone for everyone. If you aren't meeting the right people, consider where you are looking. If you are young and looking to meet young people, consider a university town, such as Tallahassee or Gainesville. Jacksonville has a state university and other colleges, and a good blend of all age groups and employment opportunities.

Default Florida sucks for single people

Most of the single people, especially girls, are superficial and watch a lot of TV. They go to gyms and dress nice and know how to use a credit card, that's about it. The guys are effeminate or they're gangsters. It's a sad scene for singles. Then there's the Bush fans who stupidly voted for Bush/Cheney.

If you want smart people, move to New York City, northern California, Austin, Texas, or Boston. Those places have good singles scenes. Forget Florida

It's great for a single renter. I don't worry about schools or housing or taxes or insurance or hurricanes. I'll be renting for life, don't need any hassles, don't care about building equity. I like to move around.

good luck
