We moved down from Denver in June ... to get away from weather like this! I knew it was the subtropics, rather than the tropics, and there are chilly nights from time to time, but this many back to back cold days is a little more than I expected.

I planted about 10 tropical fruit seedlings in June and they are all still doing really well. I made sure to buy from a nursery that seeks out the most cold tolerant varieties and all of them are supposed to be hardy to the upper 20's. But, the Atemoya and Sugar Apple are starting to look a bit rough. I have been fertilizing them with a product that is supposed to increase their frost tolerance and I treated them with FreezePruf the day before the cold front came. Poor babies, I wish there was more I could do for them, but it's sink or swim time!

Come up to Minnesota for the month of January. High of zero degrees (thats right 0 Degrees F) today. Last 3 days we have not made it above zero and at night has been negative 20. That is the actual air temperature not the wind chill FYI!!!
Looks like well finally make it above 10 degrees next week. Heat wave!!!!
Granted this has been an unusual cold snap up here to, but unless your income depends on the ag industry in Florida, I don't feel sorry for you.

I absolutely HATE IT!!! I hope I can get through this, and it doesn't look like it's gonna end any time soon.

Sure hope we all get a break soon - up North, down South, the Midwest!

Neighbor left NYC a few weeks ago for "warm, sunny" Florida, packed a teeny bikini and a straw hat, came back yesterday with a ski cap, heavy down jacket, gloves, scarf, muttering something about where Al Gore could put his lectures on global warming.

Oh well, let's all bundle up and hope for the best!
