I don't personally care that much for Plant City myself, Lakeland offers a WHOLE lot more, believe me. And while it is still a somewhat conservative, Southern feeling town, it is nowhere what you will get in Plant City. It's a clean, friendly, self contained small city with plenty of grocery stores, restaurants and shopping, and a lot of great recreational opportunities.

Good luck, hope this helps.

We're coming down in April to check out the area. Lakeland will definitely be one of our stops. Thanks Gypsychic!

Use crime maps, and school ratings as your guide. If you buy in an area with solid well-rated schools, and low crime, it will be a nice area. I also try to avoid high density housing areas, and stick to single family home areas that do not allow short term renters of less than 6 months.
