What would be the best city for my husband and I to live in? It’s just my husband and I no kids, no pets.

It has to be within 10-20 minutes but no more then 30 mins. of a drive or right on the beach is fine. The less of a drive the better!

It has to have a ton of things to do and see, lots of restaurants, great shopping, preferably a outlet, all within a reasonable drive from the apartment / city its self.

There also has to be some newly constructed apartments and hopefully in or at least close to our price range of $650-$800. All we need is a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom. We can go a little beyond $800 but would prefer not to.

I want to be in a bigger area or at least a close suburb of a bigger area. As always jobs and safety are important. I figure the bigger the area the more opportunity for jobs.

Also we are looking on the east coast, because I have heard if you live on the Golf there isn't any waves, plus the fact of all of the oil wells, it just really turns me off.

PS: I know times are tough, and that is fine by me. Don't try to talk me out of moving because I am moving to FL one way or another.

You've got to be kidding right? You want to live near the beach, in a city with lots of jobs, lots of stuff to do, and only pay $650-$800 in rent?

Please let me know where this location is because I'd like to move there.

For $800 a month you might find something away from the beach 25-30mins away or so in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale suburbs. It won't be nice and it won't be new construction. The Atlantic side does not have very big waves either. And it's not like you can see the oil wells from the beach, they are not near Florida.

Myrtle Beach SC. I'm looking for replacements for MB SC...but so far FL is coming up short.

Thanks I'll give that a shot...Miami did look nice I'll try searching the suburbs of those areas.

I'm from Myrtle Beach and you can probably find that there. Myrtle Beach is a very blue collar retiree town. Much cheaper housing than just about anywhere in Florida.

Plus, there are a zillion people from West Virginia already there.

To the OP:

Weren't you just recently looking in Myrtle Beach?

But you wanted brand new, with granite counter tops, fireplace, etc. for cheap. Then not only couldn't you find such a thing in your price range, you also couldn't get accepted to rent. That was because you either had no job or a minimum wage work that didn't give you the income 3x the monthly rent that managers wanted to see.

You're not going to find that kind of apartment for what you want to pay in FL either. Also, you'll likely run into the same problems with trying to rent as you had in SC. You might have to try to rent a room to start or maybe an extended stay motel until you have a few months work history for the both of you, then try to rent. But you'll have to take what is in your price range.
